ON THE BENCH

In November 2025, I was laid off after five years as a full-time copywriter and editor, supporting such clients as Microsoft, Albertsons, Jeep, Nissan, and Delta.

Although I did not expect to be made redundant, I heard the signs. After eight years writing and editing for Fortune 500, B2B, and retail clients, I know to keep my ear to the ground, to listen for changes in the engagement. For me, active listening is key to producing work that supports the messaging goals of all stakeholders.

Additionally, my creative team was charged with using AI to streamline the weekly email communications that were our bread-and-butter. With my copy style guides and documentation, I helped to facilitiate the transition to AI. And I’m really not bitter: I hope my next position allows for more flexibility to use AI.

While I’m hunting for a new role, I am writing freelance articles for the Seattle Times and working on my double strum on my tenor ukulele. I’m hoping for a new engagement that allows me to use my editorial skills to concept, research, write, and edit in a fast-faced, integrated communications system.
